Hi, my name is Jorge. I’m an artist, researcher, and glassblower from Yanaguana/Somi Se’k/San Antonio, Texas. I like thinking about land, history, technology, and material culture. Currently focused on foraging as methodology for process-based sculpture. Some beloved acquaintances made thus far include: pampas grass, willow, kudzu, and many soils.
I am also a PhD student at MIT in the History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology, and Society program. My research is an ethnographic study on the development of Starbase and Mars colonization efforts in Brownsville and the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. Email me if you would like a copy of my MA thesis to read.
